Another full body training session this morning at my local gym.  Thankfuly my bodyweight is on the increase again following a drop of nearly a kilo across a busy weekend.

My Reg Park barbell & dumbell set are undergoing referbishment.  So little of the orignal paint is on the plates that rust is forming, so a coat of fresh red paint for plates,collers & squat stands in progress.  Looking just like new in 1950's.

Tested out the gym machines this morning with a full body routine, one exercise per muscle group 12 reps & 4 sets upper body, 15 reps & 4 sets legs, 25 reps & 4 sets for abdominals.  Great to train following a very busy weekend, unfortunately I failed to get enough food during Fri, Sat & Sun, my bodyweight has fallen as a result.

Trained a full body routine this morning using lighter weights, two excersises & one set per body part 25 reps for legs, 15 reps for upper body.  Sat & Sun restdays to follow, then back to the three day split.

Holiday rest week is nearly over, feeling like I am fully recovered & ready for the next couple of months of weight training.  Bodyweight has remained at around 60.2 kgs without excersise & nutrition supplemented by extra protein for a full week.  Looks like that extra muscle I have built is going to stay on.

6am Cold & frosty morning for leg training.  Found it hard going today, I am ready for my rest day & a week long lay off.
After training I had an induction course at my local gym, I am now set up with a wet weather training venue & when the moment feels right, an option to alter my routine from free weights to machines.  I'm looking to see the weights on the bar reach their peak, then I will change up to machines for while then back to free weights.

6am Cold & frosty morning training shoulders, arms & abdominals, increases in weight on most lifts, dumbell side lateral raises are about as heavy as I can go with good form .  Visiting a local gym for wet weather training today. Lifting outside at home is fine but too risky in the pouring rain, which we will get soon.

6am Icy freezing conditions for this mornings weights session, training chest, back & abdominals.  Bench Press was hard but still managed 12,12,12,12 at 90 lbs so will put on more weight for next time.

8am Legs & abdominals training, nice warm conditions, still some snow around but a lot easier going than the harsh frosts recently.  Weights increasing on all exercises, most happy with improvement on lunges, got the form right now.

Goal for February is to weigh in at 61kgs by 20th & to close the month at 61.5kgs.
176 weeks remaining to reach 76kgs six training sessions & one rest day per week.
Complete lay offs as required.

6am Covering of snow a few inches thick & much higher temperatures made for a very enjoyable weights session this morning, infact it was so balmy the top layers came off before the first sets of clean & press were over. Training shoulders, arms & abdominals. Weights increasing on all lifts, very happy with progress for push press, now at 40lbs + 32lb bar for 4 sets 12,12,12,12.

7am Very cold & frosty conditions this morning, training chest, back & abdominals.  Weights on the bar still rising.  Bent over rows & deadlifts are holding steady whilst I work to complete a full set of reps, once achieved the weights will be increased.

Rest day today, had a good lay in this morning & could see some extra thickness in my thighs when I got up, good old squats & lunges!
Looking forward to six more weights sessions starting tomorrow, then followed by a full weeks rest, looking for some good growth in that week lay off.

6am weights session training legs, lower back & abdominals.  Very cold conditions but no frost.  Good poundage increases on most lifts, but particularly happy with increases on straight leg deadlift.  I have been looking after an old injury whilst doing this lift, but felt strong with it today.  New muscle fibres must be backing up old damaged muscle, how nice to know our bodies can be rebuilt using brand new tissue, but you do have to work it to build it.

6am Icy conditions & bitterly cold wind blowing in for my weights session this morning.  Training Shoulders, Arms & Abdominals, I must be close to my lifting limit as Clean & Press had to remain at the same weight only able to pull out 10-10-10-8 reps.  When I reach full set of 12-12-12-12 then the weight will increase.

All other excersises, weights still rising. Chest very sore from yesterday's session, so the weight increases are hitting the muscles like they should.

Bodyweight after training 59.5kgs. Weight increase of 1.1kgs from 58.4kgs in early Jan.
19kgs remaining to reach target in 178 weeks time.

6am. Icy & frosty conditions for this morning's weight training.  Looking up to a cold black sky full of bright stars, from under the barbell.  Calm & silent conditions, breath vapour hanging in the air.  Good to have the tilly lamp shining some light & warming up my shed.

Chest, Back & Abdominals training. Big weight increases for Bench Press, Incline Bench Press & Deadlift.  Weighed in at 59.3kgs after training.

Trained Legs & Abdominals this morning. Lunges are a very intense, 4 sets of 15 reps with 32lb bar & 18lbs of weights. I work my legs first with Squats 4 sets of 15 reps with 32lb bar & 57lbs of weights before lunges. Weights continueing to increase on the bar. Lifting form is good, no sign of old injuries getting in the way. Big poundage increases coming soon I expect.

Training Chest, Back & Abdominals this morning, feeling strong, weights on the bar increasing on all lifts, big increases for Flat Bench Press & Dead Lift.
Body weight holding steady at 59 Kgs.  Word of stormy weather approaching, got the waterproof jacket & trousers ready for wet training in the morning.

Onions & Leeks doing great, little seedlings growing fast, going to be a bumber crop this season.

Rest day.  Yesterday morning I trained legs & abdominals, it was a very good session & I felt strong.  Getting much more balance & control of lunges, very hard excersise on the legs. Body weight steady at 59.2kgs.  Looking to reach 60kgs towards the end of the next six days of weights session.

7.15am Weights session this morning by tilley lamp, training Shoulders, Arms & Abdominals.  Very light drizzle but not  as cold as yesterday.
Clean & Press, Push Press, Side Lateral Raises, Upright Rows, Close Grip Bench Press, Biceps Curls, Triceps Extensions, Wrist Curls, Crunches.

7am - Dark & cold weights session this morning, cold icy rain with surface ice on pathing & cars.  Tilley lamp lighting & warming up the shed & my fingers, gardening gloves on & a warm hat pulled over my ears to train.  Working Chest, Back  & Abdominals with Bench Press, Incline Bench Press, Dumbell Pullovers, Chin Ups, Bent Over Rows, Dead Lift & Crunches.

Weights on the bar still increasing, body weight after training 58.9kgs
Light  breakfast of Honeynut corn flakes at 6.45am, second breakfast of high protein shake plus one hard boiled egg, grated cheese, cottage cheese, chicken & salad cream at 8.30am.

Snack at 11am sliced apple with raisins.
Light lunch of a honey sandwich & a kitkat, I'm really stuffed.
Evening meal of new potatoes, ham, mushrooms, courgette, carrot & white sauce.

Weight training by Tilley lamp this morning, still dark at 7am. Shoulders, Arms & Abdominals workout.  Weighed in at 59kgs after training, looking to see that increase stay steady through the next few days.

In addition to normal meal times I am adding 'in between' high protein meals of two soft boiled eggs, then another consisting of one hard boiled egg with grated cheese, cottage cheese & salad cream.  I also down a protein shake at breakfast & again late in the day.  Additional drinks of Milk or water at any time.  Keep running out of Chicken, must go shopping.

Trained chest, back & abdominals this morning.  Body weight has risen from 58.4kg to 58.7kg and remained consistant through the week.
Now working on a split routine, six days training followed by one day rest, training full body twice weekly.

Seed potatoes have arrived, Onion seeds have germinated, plenty showing through, Broad Beans ready to be planted out.  No sign of Leeks germinating yet.

I tried out the 5X5 programme, but post workout I can tell that my body isn't going to put up with the weight being lifted. I have many old (other sports) injuries that lurk just below the surface & I was reminded of all of them during the hours following the workout. My safe maximum limit for Squat & dead lift is 130lbs so I'm going to have to work within that limit & no doublt it's going to curb my mass building potential. However, looking at it another way, the 5X5 routine only demands five lifts of the weight where as my next plan is to lift lighter weight we but higher reps. 3 sets of 10-6-4 reps dead lift & Squats 4 sets of 12 to 15 reps of about 100lbs max, should avoid straining old injuries.

A hard weight training session this morning.  A bright chilly morning & gains in  weight on the bar still coming good. 

Routine is to change again, still working on the same basic lifts of Squats, Bench Press, Dead Lift, Military Press, Chin Ups & Barbell Rows.  The change is for more sets but fewer reps & the weights will be increased further.

5 sets of 5 reps, first two sets as warm ups & weight increases to near maximum lifting weight for final 3 sets.
Two slightly differing routines, A & B, training full body, three times a week with four rest days.
